Miniature Memento Mori Forbidden Fruit Painting
$40.00
Memento mori is a Latin phrase that translates to “remember you must die;” a stark reminder that life and existence are ephemeral. This rich artistic tradition is rife with symbolism, of which we have isolated and painted in this collection of unique mini frames.
This miniature still life painting features an overly ripe apple with a bite taken out of it. Fruit is a ubiquitous symbol in still life paintings. When you see a decaying piece of fruit, it often symbolizes the inevitability of death. Of course, the presence of an apple in any still life brings religious connotations with it, eliciting Eve biting into the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.
Mini vintage-style frame is approx. 4” x 3.5” and is one-of-one. Shipping included.
